Late Saturday afternoon, Deb and I went to Walmart to pick up her prescription and do a little shopping. When we left we drove toward one of the parking lot exits and on the corner by the stop sign was a gentleman playing his saxophone. I’m usually leery of people on street corners as they are oftentimes panhandling. This guy certainly looked like he was doing just that, but as we approached I could see that he wasn't stopping traffic, or soliciting, and he didn't have a sign that read something like, “Will play for $$$”, so I asked Deb to roll down her window. When we stopped I asked the guy to play me something. He immediately made that old sax of his come to life. I mean, he was good. I told him that his sound was sweet and I loved hearing what he played us. Unashamedly, he answered, I just enjoy playing for Jesus, and he began to tell us how good the Lord has been to him. Deb handled him a $5, which he took, but handed us a CD with eight or nine songs on it. "WOW, a panhandler that gives you something for your buck", I thought.
AWAKENING – A term used in Christian circles to symbolize the Christian who dabbles in that which the wrath of God is poured out on the mere professors of faith.
